Without a doubt our most popular Lake Superior Adventure!

This Lake Superior Sailing Island Adventure will take you a little further out into the Bay of Thunder. Sail to the three picturesque islands known as the Welcome Islands. Only a short distance from the City, these Islands boast tall cliffs composed of sedimentary rock, a sheltered anchorage nestled within their cover, and an abundance of winged wildlife. Spot the Welcome Island Light House and the “Robert Fryer” shipwreck!

Enjoy a closer view of the iconic Sleeping Giant to the east, and the entire panorama of the city of Thunder Bay to the west. The best views of Thunder Bay are from the water! Looking South, wonder at the massive flat top mesas of Pie Island and the Nor’Wester Mountains. Relax and watch the cloud shadows silently roll across the stunning landscape. Our captains are knowledgeable and skilled interpretive guides and will stop the boat along the way to point out landmarks and give you the opportunity to take photos on this Lake Superior Sailing Island Adventure.

Experience the beauty of Thunder Bay and Lake Superior on board an expertly captained sailing vessel. You will feel a rush as the wind fills the sails and propels us silently and gracefully forward through the water. The boat will gently lean and pick up speed. You can sit and relax on the deck, watch the scenery pass by and feel the waves roll under you.

We recommend you bring a cap, windbreaker, camera, sunglasses and sunscreen. We provide bottled water for those of you who can’t quench your thirst for adventure. Life jackets and PFD are also provided. Please bring soft tread footwear only, no hard soles.

To maintain our high standards of safety, we ask that there be a one-to-one child-adult ratio for children under 8 (can be supervised by a sibling 15 yrs or older). There is no charge for children 2 and under but they do count towards our maximum passenger limit, so please inform us if you are bringing an infant so we can adjust our reservations accordingly.

Early Bird (10 AM Departure) pricing available for our Welcome Island Adventure!

You are welcome to self-cater this excursion. We stop for about 30-45 minutes at anchor to allow time for a meal. Bring a fully contained pic-nik type basket for your group, cheeses, meats, salads and other snacks. No glassware, please. Drinks should not include hard liquor. Coolers, beer and wine are great.

Put together a group of up to 8 for a family reunion, business outing, milestone birthday on a Lake Superior Sailing Island Adventure. Make it a date to remember and invite only your favourite person for a romantic getaway or twilight sail.

Have a really big family or group? Ask us about our multi-boat excursions. An unforgettable experience: two boats (up to 16 guests), a relaxing cruise or an exciting “race” to the islands, raft together at this scenic vista for a delicious lunch and return to the Marina. Bring your own meals and drinks or have the excursion catered.
